Sir Trill marked his return to the music fold in the biggest way imaginable when the Amapiano impresario delivered a top-charting album, Ghost, on Friday.
Sir Trill ‘Ghost’ album breaches million streams on release day
For Trill, getting to release his much-anticipated project was a rocky affair.
You will remember that in June 2022, the Amapiano star got caught in a social media scuffle with DJ Maphorisa over his masters and release schedule.
While Trill did not explicitly call out names, he did make several startling claims against a known figure in the industry who, behind closed doors, adopt a “you either let us eat from your plate, or you don’t eat at all” gatekeeping policy.
“It’s not me who doesn’t want to drop music. They’re trying to shut me down. Working overtime to cancel my shows outside when all I did was help the same people,” the artist claimed in a series of Instagram Story posts.
Months passed with no word heard from Trill.
But, on Friday, the Emlanjeni star resurfaced with a brand new studio album titled Ghost, proving to fans that in his hiatus, he was crafting some of his best works to date.
Sure enough, eager fans absorbed every song on the star-studded 19-track album.
In less than six hours since it surfaced on Apple Music, Ghost broke past 1.5 million single-day streams.
