Presley Chweneyagae was the butt of backlash after his child support scandal aired on the latest episode of the Moja Love TV smash hit reality TV show, ‘No Excuses, Pay Papgeld’.
Presley Chweneyagae exposed as ‘deadbeat’ dad
The Tsotsi star’s out-of-wedlock baby momma, Aletta Somfula sent shockwaves reverberating across social media when, during Sunday’s episode, she detailed her struggle getting Chweneyagae to meet her halfway in co-parenting their 16-year-old son.
According to Somfula, she found out she was pregnant with Chweneyagae’s child in 2005, around the time his breakout performance on Tsotsi earned the Gavin Hood-directed film a nod at the Oscars.
“When he came back I told him I was pregnant. He even asked my uncles to alert his family that I was pregnant but his mother denied the child,” Somfula said on the show.
The actor’s scornful baby momma clarified that while no love was lost between them, she did expect Chweneyagae to play an active fatherly role in their son’s life.
“He is 16-years and the pressure from peers is overwhelming,” she added.
Somfula further explained she had expected Chweneyagae to step up as a co-parent after a paternity test proved he was, indeed, the biological father.
However, years rolled by, and the actor, ironically, welcomed two children with his wife Paulina, whose lives he is active in.
“What irritates me the most is the fact that he is taking care of his other two kids. I don’t want anything from him except for him to take responsibility for his son,” Somfula said.
Here’s how much he owes in backdated child support
Chweneyagae, who is at the centre of a Terry Pheto-esque SIU investigation into an R15 million National Lotteries fraud scam, had not issued a response to his baby momma’s shocking claims when this article was published.
However, according to Somfula, her decision to take the story public was a last resort, since she had already exhausted her efforts in the court system.
In fact, the scorned baby momma claimed she’s obtained five court orders granting her child support but Chweneyagae failed to pay his fatherly dues on every occasion.
Somfula insisted the only time the actor has ever contributed toward his son was in 2014 after she’d won her second child support case against him.
At the time, Chweneyagae had reportedly agreed to fork out R700 per month, and turned up with R1 000, the only child support fee he’s ever settled, according to Somfula.
The baby momma confirmed her latest child support case against the actor now rests in the hands of the Kempton Park court system, where she claims he owes more than R58 800 in backdated maintenance.
“I am not a bitter babymama but I want what is best for my child,” she said
