Mike Tyson was in the boxing ring with Hulu, who allegedly produced a series on his life without his consent and a fragment of compensation.
Mike Tyson shared his frustrations on social media
Tyson took to social media on Friday, 5 August 2022, to express his displeasure towards Hulu, accusing them of creating a ‘slave master take over story’ of his life. The former boxer was not happy that the streaming service produced a biographical series without his permission or compensation for telling his story.
Tyson’s first post was dedicated to his friend and UFC president Dana White. Mike thanked White for refusing to get involved in the series, Mike.
“Hulu tried to desperately pay my brother @danawhite millions without offering me a dollar to promote their slave master take over story about my life. He turned it down because he honors friendship and treating people with dignity. I’ll never forget what he did for me just like I’ll never forget what Hulu stole from me,” he wrote in the first post.
However, the wrath of Tyson was just beginning. Mike followed it up with a series of posts across Instagram and Twitter, with one post making reference to a biblical battle. “They’re Goliath, and I’m David. Heads will roll for this,” the boxer wrote.
In the second Instagram post, Tyson stated, “Don’t let Hulu fool you. I don’t support their story about my life. It’s not 1822. It’s 2022.” He went on further to say that they stole his life and did not pay him for it.
The eight-episode limited series surrounding the boxer’s life is set to debut on 25 August 2022.
The same producers who created the series also produced I, Tonya, a biopic about former American figure skater Tonya Harding.
Although Hulu has definitely felt a left-handed jab from Mike Tyson, the streaming service is yet to address these claims publicly.
The heavy-weight champion has slammed Hulu before this. In February 2021, Tyson also took to Instagram to raise his voice against the streamer after announcing the project. He called the series “cultural misappropriation” and “tone-deaf.” His opinion about the upcoming series has not changed in the slightest.
