Kim Kardashian Paris robbery: Here’s what Yunis Abbas had to say
Abbas, one of the men arrested for the burglary, said that he felt no guilt over the crime. In a recent interview with VICE News, Abbas got candid about the infamous Paris robbery.
In 2016, a group of burglars dubbed the “grandpa robbers” stole jewellery from her luxurious hotel suite. The American personality was robbed of around $10 million in jewellery, including a $4 million 20-carat engagement ring given to her by her ex-husband Kanye West.
According to The Mirror, the gang of men bound, gagged, and held Kardashian at gunpoint during the scary ordeal. They proceeded to raid her jewellery boxes and got away with a massive haul of jewellery and two mobile phones.
“Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that,” Abbas has now said, adding with a chuckle: “Guilty? No, I don’t care.”
Additionally, he also discussed the robbery’s specifics. Alleging that Kardashian’s “secretary” tried to call for assistance but dialled 911 even though she was in France.
“Madame Kardashian’s secretary called for help. But she called 911 in the United States, which scared us, which made them lose a lot of time. And when we got out, there was a bunch of police outside who didn’t know anything about the robbery,”
Abbas responded, “They should be a little less showy towards people who can’t afford it,” in response to a question about celebrities who publicly display their valuables online.”
After threatening the building concierge with a knife, they were able to enter Kardashian’s hotel room. Abbas spent nearly two years in prison for his part in the heist.
