Kamo Mphela just made South Africa proud as she performed at one of the biggest music festivals in the UK.
Watch: Kamo Mphela takes over UK festival
Mphela is all everyone is talking about as she just had arguably one of the biggest performances of her career in the UK. The South African singer took the stage at the Ama fest this past weekend to take the Amapiano sound abroad and it was well-received.
Mphela who was born and raised in Durban is known for her exceptional dancing and singing so this reception is no surprise as it is partly due to her performance which was energetic, fun, and full of dancing. This can be seen on her Instagram page where she has posted a video clip of the show and she can be seen dancing to her song titled Nkulunkulu.
Amapiano set to invade UK festival culture
Mphela performed at the Ama Fest, which is known as the largest UK festival dedicated to Amapiano, the festival fuses the best of International and UK Amapiano artists and DJs, while celebrating South African culture at the same time. The festival which took place on the 4th of September 2021 at SOE Showground, Haywards Heath, near London, saw Mphela perform some of her hits for her UK fans.
The reception Mphela has received is no surprise as other well-known South African Amapiano music artists have received a similar reception such as Major League DJz, a South African DJ duo who have taken the Amapiano sound abroad and can be frequently seen performing in the UK.
Mphela may have received praise in the UK for her performance, but there is no nation quite as proud as South African’s when one of their own is doing well abroad. Here are a few reactions from social media where fans paid tribute to Mphela:
