Pretoria woman responds to rumours she is DJ Mashata’s ‘side chick’
Mogapi found herself at the centre of controversy when her social media tribute to Peter Mabuse, known professionally as DJ Mashata, went viral.
Mogapi’s post included personal photos and reflections on her relationship with Mashata, leading to widespread speculation due to one particular image showing them in a close and seemingly intimate pose.
“You were someone I’d call when I’m broke and [you never minded lending a helping hand] and those gigs [you hooked up for me]… [Thank you],” Mogapi wrote in Tswana.
In response to the backlash, Mogapi removed the viral post and further clarified her relationship with Mashata. She stated that their relationship was purely platonic, describing Mashata as a supportive friend who helped her both professionally and personally.
DJ Mashata was shot and killed in Soshanguve this past weekend and last-living footage capturing his final moments before the brutal murder has surfaced online.
He was reportedly driving away from the event in a bakkie with a friend when they were both shot. DJ Mashata succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.
The identity of the gunmen and their motives are still under investigation, with police pursuing several leads.
