Details on McKaiser’s death remain foggy, a week after news surfaced of his sudden death at 44.
At the time, McKaiser’s manager Jackie Strydom revealed that while an official medical report has yet to be released, early indications suggest the published author may have died from an epileptic seizure.
“I am so distraught. I can’t believe this,” Strydom said at the time.
Eusebius McKaiser was born in 1979, a native of Makhanda, formerly known as Grahamstown, Eastern Cape.
McKaiser’s humble beginnings spurred him to a life of great achievements. He enrolled at Rhodes University in 1997 and went on to obtain a Master’s in Philosophy with distinction.
McKaiser used his academics and exposure to international higher education at Oxford University to mould a successful career in media, growing an audience who found wisdom in his satirical takes on South African politics.
Some of McKaiser’s contributions to media include credits on:
- The New York Times;
- Business Day;
- Mail and Guardian;
- Sunday Times;
- BBC Focus on Africa; and among others,
- The Financial Mail.
McKaiser also authored critically acclaimed books such as A Bantu In My Bathroom, Could I Vote DA and Run, Racist, Run.
