Eskom has called off loadshedding from 16:00 today, marking a temporary end to the rolling blackouts that grappled the nation at a recurring Stage 2 since Monday.
This suspension will last until 16:00 on Wednesday, the power utility confirmed.
Eskom suspends loadshedding: Here’s why
The decision to suspend loadshedding comes after the return of six generating units to service, significantly enhancing the available generation capacity.
This development has allowed the national electricity supplier to temporarily halt the implementation of Stage 2 loadshedding, which was previously communicated to take effect from 16:00 today.

What is the forecasted load demand for Tuesday evening?
The forecasted load demand for Tuesday evening is pegged at 27 728 megawatts (MW).
This figure takes into account both residential and industrial consumption, which typically spikes in the evening as people return home from work and businesses continue to operate.
Managing this peak demand is crucial for Eskom to ensure a stable power supply and avoid the need for rotational blackouts.
Currently, the unplanned unavailability of generating units stands at 13 840MW, a significant factor in the day-to-day decisions regarding loadshedding.
