In a statement released on Sunday, Eskom confirmed that starting Monday from 05:00 to 16:00, loadshedding will be suspended. Thereafter, outages will return at Stage 2 until 05:00, with this pattern expected to remain in place until further notice.
The power utility attributed this adjustment to the need to “replenish the emergency reserves for the week ahead,”
The current state of Eskom’s power system indicates that unplanned outages account for 15 409MW of generating capacity, with an additional 6 261MW out of service for planned maintenance.
