Elton John releases statement after testing positive for COVID-19
The 74-year-old broke the news on his Instagram Story, apologising to Dallas fans for the short-notice cancellation of shows he had scheduled at the American Airlines Centre on Tuesday and Wednesday as part of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour.
“Hi everyone, wanted to send a message to let you know that I have contracted COVID and so have had to reschedule my shows in Dallas. If you have tickets, you’ll be contacted with the new dates really soon. It’s always a massive disappointment to move shows and I’m so sorry to anyone who’s inconvenienced by this but I want to keep myself and my team safe,” he wrote.
Despite the grave concern felt by fans from all over the world, John remained upbeat and confirmed that not only is he fully vaccinated against COVID-19, but that he has taken his booster shots, and thus his symptoms are mild.
The Sacrifice star is currently in self-isolation but his team has indicated that he could be well enough to see the rest of his tour through by the weekend, where he is expected in Little Rock, Arkansas.
The 74-year-old will have a short amount of time to rest after his tour concludes in the United States. Thereafter, John will commence with the second part of his world tour, with dates confirmed in Europe from May to June 2022.
