DJ Fresh and his soon-to-be ex-wife Thabiso Sikwane are calling it quits and for the most part, fans were left bemused at the manner in which the couple made the announcement.
DJ Fresh and wife announce amicable divorce
Divorce is not only taboo but prone to violence and, at best, publicised quarrels from both ends. Take, for example, the highly publicised split between rap-billionaire Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
Once upon a time their marriage was an unattainable dream. Today, it’s an entire mess.
The same can’t be said about DJ Fresh and Thabiso, however. The couple released a joint video statement, on Monday, confirming that they’ve been in an unbundling process since the start of the pandemic.
“We’ve been separated [for] pretty much for most if not all of lockdown and we’re just finalising the finer details right now. We still love each other. I think people are expecting fireworks and demands and ‘I want half’, but there will never be drama between us because we’ll forever love each other and we’ve got three beautiful kids to raise and that is our focus,” the veteran House producer said.
To celebrate the new chapter of their lives as divorcees, DJ Fresh and Thabiso announced a number of ventures, starting off with a single expected to drop soon. Thabiso and DJ Fresh also have a honey product launching soon, among other things which, if Fresh is left unhinged, might include ‘divorce workshops’.
No further information has been shared by the couple on the real reason behind the divorce.
The couple first met and fell in love back in 1997 during a stint at YFM.
It was a match made at a radio station and 25 years later, the romance has expired in a rather unusually amicable way.
It’s unclear, at this stage, if DJ Fresh’s recent tribulations as a rape-accused had any bearing on the marriage.
