Chrissy Teigen is pregnant again!
The cookbook author announced that she and her husband John Legend are expecting their rainbow baby. The good news came almost two years after the couple suffered a pregnancy loss.
“Joy has filled our home and hearts again.” Teigen wrote.
Teigen posted photos of her baby bump on Instagram. She shared her journey on the pregnancy and her fear of announcing it. The former model has been open about her fertility struggle.
“Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘ok if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still,” she disclosed.
Two months after the tragic loss of her son, the model said she’d never be pregnant again. However, earlier this year, Chrissy revealed that she’d resumed the IVF process to try for another baby.
Chrissy Teigen shared her experience with pregnancy loss
In September 2020, Teigen and Legend experienced a heart-breaking pregnancy loss. Teigen explained that she faced various pregnancy complications due to a partial placenta abruption.
After bleeding and bed rest for a month, she eventually had to deliver their son at 20 weeks. One year later, Teigen shared a post on Instagram mourning her family’s loss of the baby, Jack. It included a photo of herself and Legend in the hospital.
“And to the son we almost had. a year ago, you gave me the greatest pain I could ever imagine showing me I could survive anything, even if I didn’t want to,” she captioned the emotional photo.
“I didn’t get to take care of you, but you came and went to get me to love myself and take care of myself because our bodies are precious, and life is a miracle. they told me it would get easier but yeah, that hasn’t started yet. mom and dad love you forever.”
Teigen also wrote a raw and emotional essay about the loss she suffered. She discussed her healing process and her gratitude for the outpouring of support.
Chrissy also gave insight into her condition in the essay. Placental abruption can cause life-threatening complications for both the person pregnant and their baby. Unfortunately, in some cases, placental abruption can cause premature birth or stillbirth.
“We monitored it very closely, hoping for things to heal and stop,” Teigen wrote. “In bed, I bled and bled, lightly but all day, changing my own diapers every couple of hours when the blood got uncomfortable to lay in.”
Teigen has been very public about her condition. She has also urged people to share their stories and to “please be kind to those pouring their hearts out”.
Teigen’s openness about stillbirth and the awareness it brought was praised by the public.
The couple is already parents to daughter Luna, aged six, and son Miles, aged four.
