Candace Cameron Bure, 46, gets called out by 19-year-old Jojo Siwa, in a Tiktok video. Siwa took part in a viral TikTok trend over the weekend, whereby participants respond to a series of prompts by briefly showing a photo of the person who best fits the description.
Siwa posted the video on Monday, 25 July 2022, flashing images of celebrities she claims to be the “rudest”, “coolest”, “nicest”, and her “crush”. For the “rudest celebrity I’ve ever met”, the YouTube star flashed a photo of the Fuller House actress. The video has since garnered over 19 million views on the social media platform.

In response, Bure shared an Instagram video and said she was taken back by Siwa’s TikTok. The Fuller House star also briefly addressed the backlash she received after the 19-year-old’s TikTok video went viral. Bure commented:
“Honestly I was shocked when I saw the TikTok on Sunday and had no idea where it came from”
The 46-year-old actress went on to explain her efforts in reaching out to Siwa. Bure had her publicist contact Siwa’s manager, which resulted in a phone call between the two the next day. Bure explained:
“I immediately tried to reach out to her through mutual friends, and my publicist contacted her manager, and I DM’d her because I didn’t know what happened – I didn’t know!”

Bure then recollected the “great conversation” with Siwa to her Instagram followers.
Siwa reportedly told Bure that she did not expect her TikTok to go viral, calling it a “silly TikTok trend” and saying that she “didn’t think it was a big deal.” But Bure went on to reassure the 19-year-old social media personality that the viral video “was a big deal”, she exclaimed.
The conversation between the two continues with Bure trying to understand Siwa’s point of view, as she recounts their first meeting as an amicable experience. Bure said to Siwa:
“I only remember that we met at The Kelly Clarkson Show, and that went really great,”
Bure alleges that the 19-year-old “felt bad” about the viral video, especially after she had a great experience with the actress on the Kelly Clarkson Show in 2019. However, Bure learned that she had declined an 11-year-old Siwa a picture years ago at a Fuller House Premier but then proceeded to take pictures with other fans. The incident had hurt Siwa’s feelings at the time. Recalling the conversation with Siwa, Bure explained:
“But then she said, ‘I met you at the Fuller House premiere when I was 11 years old, and we were all on the red carpet. I had come up to you and said, “Can I have a picture with you?” and you said to me, “Not right now.” And then proceeded to do what you were doing and take pictures with other people on the red carpet.'”
Bure went on to profusely apologise to Siwa and stated that “as a mom,” she feels guilty for declining a picture with an 11-year-old back then. But Siwa went on to reassure Bure that there were no hard feelings. Jojo expressed:
“I get it now, as an adult, when you’re on the red carpet and everything’s happening and you’re being pulled in different directions, but at that time I was 11.”
Candace Cameron Bure on the lesson learned after Jojo Siwa drama
After Bure assured followers that things were “all good on the JoJo front”, the 90’s star shared the valuable lesson she learned amid the incident with the popular YouTuber. Bure spoke about the responsibility of having an online platform and being cautious of what you post no matter the number of followers. Bure advised:
“No matter how many followers you have, even a 10-second trending TikTok video can do damage because our words matter and our actions matter.”
The above quote can allude to Siwa’s video, which sparked a massive backlash against Bure despite the misinterpretation of the content.
There is no beef between the two women, and Bure even praised Siwa for being a “positive role model”.
Siwa has not commented on the situation after Bure’s Instagram video.
