Fans of Kiernan ‘AKA‘ Forbes were elated when the late rapper’s family confirmed that the release date of his upcoming project, Mass Country, is still on schedule.
When is ‘Mass Country’ release date?
The Prada rapper’s family, in a joint statement released on the eve of his memorial service, recognised the colossal impact AKA’s death has had on the nation and other parts of the world.
“In the last two years ‘Mass Country’ has become AKA’s entire world. The Supa Mega constantly kept the album release momentum ant anticipation high,” the statement read.
Nivo, AKA’s manager and co-executive producer of Mass Country, added that “the [T Effect] team was extremely blessed to work so closely on this project with Kiernan [Forbes].”
In a bid to honour his legacy, Vth Season, the T Effect and Sony Music Entertainment Africa will go ahead with plans to release Mass Country on Friday, 24 February 2023.
“We spent a lot of time mapping out this roll-out and creating all the content we have under his direction,” Nivo said.
AKA’s next single revealed
In keeping with AKA’s roll-out schedule, which he was absorbed into at the time of his tragic death, the next single release from Mass Country will be Company featuring his collaborator on Fela In Versace, Kiddominant.
The single release will be AKA’s fourth from Mass Country, after Prada, Lemons and Paradise featuring Musa Keys and Gyakie.
“The single was recorded in Los Angeles during his January holiday,” the family statement revealed.
At the driver’s seat of rolling out Mass Country will be Vth Season, the T Effect and Sony Music Africa.
Reflecting on the tragic death of the Dreamwork rapper, Sony Music Africa’s managing director Sean Watson said:
“Our hearts are broken. We’ve lost not only an icon but someone who was dear to us as a member of the Sony family. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones as we all traverse this difficult timeof mourning the loss of a dearly beloved and respected artist.
“All of us at Sony Music convey our deepest sympathies and condolences to his family, friends, the Megacy and South Africa.”
AKA will be laid to rest in a private funeral only open to family and close friends. The rapper’s memorial service is scheduled to take place on Friday, 17 February 2023 at the Sandton Convention Centre and you can watch it live right here.
