AKA and Nasty C came together for an epic trip down memory lane on Lemons (Lemonade), Supamega’s latest lead single ahead of his next album, Mass Country.
AKA and Nasty C premiere ‘Lemons’ single
If there is one thing AKA is undeniably talented in, it’s his ability to reinvent classic South African sounds into a modern-day radio hit. On Lemons, AKA interpolates the iconic Dance song, Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust, and invites Nasty C’s witty wordplay on a chopped and ‘Amapiano-fied’ Mzansi rendition of the 1998 classic.
In the music video, which debuted on the same day as the audio release, AKA lends amateur acting assistant from his main squeeze, Nadia Nakai, and Robot Boii for a skit that pays homage to SABC 1‘s archived youth competition programme, Jika Ma Jika.
The music video itself is a safe AKA performance. The Mega plays within his boundaries and Nasty C respectfully moves to his elderman’ step, careful to not out steal the moment.
At the time this article was published, Lemons (Lemonade) had garnered more than 82 000 views.
