Nickelodeon‘s 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards will return for another year of honours in April, and representing South Africa on the international stage, are Amapiano powerhouse duo Major League DJs, Makhadzi and other African stars.
2022 Kids’ Choice Awards: Nominees for ‘Favourite African Star’
After recently celebrating a record deal with Atlantic Records, Major League DJs will get the opportunity for glory on the international stage once again.
The twins were announced as nominees in the 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards category for Favourite African Star. The outing will, however, be a tough one since they are going up against Focalistic, Limpopo music queen Makhadzi, and South Africa’s most-decorated football coach, Pitso Mosemane.

Here’s how to vote for your favourite African star
Voting opened on Thursday 17 March 2022 and have two ways to cast a ballot for their favourite African star:
- On the website: Fans can cast their vote on this Nickelodeon page. One vote is counted per click
- Via the Nick Play App
Fans can submit up to 100 votes per day and while for main categories, this lends as an additional endorsement to other judging criteria, international categories are solely won by popularity.
This means that the artist with the most votes in the Favourite African Star category will take home the ‘slime’.
The 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards will air live on Saturday 9 April 2022 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California. The awards ceremony will be simulcast in South Africa in the wee hours of Sunday 10 April 2022 on the Nickelodeon channel on DStv.
