South African singer Nomcebo Zikode has found herself at the centre of controversy after pictures of her with accused murderer Livhuwani Madadzhe surfaced on social media.

Madadzhe, a well-known comedian in Limpopo, is currently out on bail for the murder of his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela, whose body was discovered in a pit in January 2023.
The pictures in question show Madadzhe and Zikode seemingly dining at a restaurant together, with Madadzhe captioning the images,
“Me and my favourite artist, Nomcebo Zikode. I know those who hate me will feed her with false and misleading information because I’m very rich and successful in life.”
These images sparked a backlash from individuals closely following Madadzhe’s murder case.
Background on Madadzhe’s Case
Livhuwani Madadzhe’s case has been marked by allegations of long-term abuse towards his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela.
It’s reported that Nengovhela had previously filed charges against Madadzhe for abuse, only to later drop them.
In 2021, Nengovhela accused Madadzhe of mistreating their 12-year-old daughter, including locking her in a dog kennel, where the family dog attacked her.
During this time, Nengovhela also claimed that Madadzhe subjected her to physical and emotional abuse and brought other women into their homes in her presence.
Despite these allegations, Nengovhela reconciled with Madadzhe and publicly discouraged supporters from intervening in their relationship.
Tragically, Nengovhela’s body was discovered in an unused pit toilet a day after she withdrew the charges against Madadzhe.
Following her death, Madadzhe was arrested as a suspect but was later released on bail. The case is currently under further police investigation, with a court date set for 29 September 2023.
Nomcebo Zikode’s Response
Nomcebo Zikode’s management team has since issued a statement clarifying the circumstances of the photographs with Madadzhe.
They asserted that they were unaware of the ongoing murder case and emphasised their strong opposition to femicide.
Zikode’s team stated that Madadzhe approached them at a restaurant, and while they did not know him, they never declined fan requests for photos.
They described the interaction as brief and denied any intentions of working with him in the future.
Furthermore, Zikode’s team expressed their sympathy for Nengovhela’s family, wishing them peace and healing during this difficult time.
“We hope her family finds peace and healing. I think this guy was once loved by his fans in Venda, he was a superstar, but the criminal allegations destroyed his reputation. Maybe the picture was him seeking relevance, but we have reached out to him and asked him to remove the posts and not to lie about working with Nomcebo,” the singer’s team noted.
