The eventual choice, Buffeljags Dam, was pinpointed with assistance from Google Earth and Swellendam locals, as shared by Freddy Louw, Creative Director and Producer at Red Pepper Pictures.
Nestled east of Suurbraak and sustained by the Buffeljags and Tradouw River, Buffeljagsdam aligned with the series’ filming prerequisites of a natural, untouched setting, yet ensuring logistical and emergency accessibility for the crew and contestants.
Buffeljags Dam’s backdrop of the Langeberge and favourable positions for capturing sunrise and sunset scenes contributed to its selection.
Its closeness to Umshanti Lodge and the region’s diverse climate was also considered advantageous.
