Eskom published the weekend loadshedding schedule starting on Friday, which forecasts reduced outages.

Weekend loadshedding schedule starting Friday, 15 March 2024
On Tuesday, Eskom ramped up blackouts with an increased pattern of outages earmarked for the rest of the week.
In a statement, the power utility confirmed loadshedding would rise to Stage 3 at 16:00 on Tuesday, 12 March 2024, and, thereafter, resume at a pattern of Stage 2 during the daytime (05:00 – 16:00) and Stage 3 in the evenings (16:00 – 05:00) “until further notice.”
Therefore, barring any unexpected changes necessitated by unplanned breakdowns at Megawatt Park’s ailing generation fleet, loadshedding should be sustained at a rotation of Stage 2 and Stage 3 this weekend.

Update on breakdowns and available capacity
The last state of the power system update was on Tuesday, 12 March 2024. At the time, Eskom reported more than 15 611MW of generation capacity lost to breakdowns, with an additional 5 487MW offline due to several units placed out of commission for planned maintenance.
