The Swisher Podcast officially launched its premiere episode on Monday, with Sanelisiwe Owethu Ntabeni and Zodidi Dano leading the conversation on mental health in the age of clout and the safety of women in the public transit and e-hailing industries.
Watch: Swisher Podcast episode 001 with Sanelisiwe and Zodidi
In the first episode, Ntabeni, a social media manager by profession, introduces herself alongside her co-host, Dano, who recently made a major career change, from a nine-year stint in journalism to working with children at a Cape Town-based foundation.
The two ladies take the audience into a heated debate about mental health awareness and how important it is to recognise, self-diagnose and seek immediate help when dealing with issues related to depression and anxiety.
The conversation segues into the recent death of revered Hip-Hop icon Rikhado ‘Riky Rick’ Makhado, and the ladies share their opinions on the reactions from social media. In particular, Ntabeni and Dano delve into the rhetoric shaped around Bianca Naidoo’s role in her husband’s decision to take his own life, and a question is posed on whether a romantic partner ought to be held accountable for not doing enough to prevent suicide.
This heated debate transforms into a very informative discussion about the recent case involving an e-hailing company that was meddled in controversy after a number of women came forward with allegations of sexual assault committed by drivers.
In this segment, Sanelisiwe and Dano explore the question on women’s safety in public transit and e-hailing industries.
