On the week of Monday, 4 September 2023, Eskom expects to escalate the loadshedding schedule to a pattern of Stage 4 and Stage 5.
UPDATE 3: On Friday, 8 September 2023, Eskom confirmed rotational outages will be downgraded to Stage 3 from 05:00 on Saturday, with plans to see rolling blackouts reduced to Stage 1 by Sunday, 10 September 2023. See the updated loadshedding schedule below.
UPDATE 2: On Thursday, 7 September 2023, Eskom confirmed that rolling blackouts will be reduced to Stage 5 between 05:00 and 16:00 on Friday, 8 September 2023 “due to improved generation capacity and emergency reserves. See the updated loadshedding schedule below.
UPDATE: On Monday, 4 September 2023, Eskom confirmed rolling blackouts will be escalated to Stage 6 loadshedding from 05:00 on Tuesday, 5 September 2023, until further notice “due to the loss of a further two generation units today.” See the updated loadshedding schedule below.
Here’s the loadshedding schedule starting Monday, 4 September 2023
On Sunday, 3 September 2023, Eskom published a statement confirming that loadshedding would be upgraded to Stage 5 from 16:00 until 05:00 the next day.
Thereafter, rotational outages are expected to return to Stage 4 until 16:00.
“This pattern will be repeated daily until further notice,” Eskom explained.
