Here’s the loadshedding schedule for week of Monday, 17 April 2023
The troubled power utility revealed in a statement, on Sunday, that rotational outages will remain heightened for the most part of this week “due to a shortage in generation capacity.”
The national electricity supplier explained significant breakdowns at Kriel and Koeberg power stations contributed to the strained capacity.
“Two generating units at Kriel, as well as one unit at Koeberg power stations were taken offline for repairs. The delays in returning a unit to service at Kendal, Kriel, Medupi and Tutuka power stations have contributed to the capacity constraints and the team is working around the clock to ensure that these are returned to services soon as possible,” Eskom said.
As of Sunday, 16 April 2023, breakdowns amounted to:
- 17 481MW – up 709MW from Wednesday, 12 April 2023
- 5 657MW – down 150MW from Wednesday, 12 April 2023
