Whether it is orchestrated or not, the new leaks we have been getting from Drake, a music library of unreleased songs is everything we need and more in these trying times.
Social distancing saved by musicians
Social distancing is being practised worldwide. We have been forced to find interesting things to do, at home, the whole day — every day.
Artists have been — and still are — blessing us with home concerts. In South Africa, Black Coffee was first to step forward and host an intimate live stream of his deep house mix.
The Weeknd also released his fourth studio album, After Hours, on Friday. So, there has been quite a lot to do in quarantine and chill.
Drake kicks off 2020 with leaks
What we were not expecting, though, was a fresh leak of a Drake song. The Marvin’s Room-esque snippet is only about a minute long but it is enough to give us direction on what’s in store from the Canadian megastar.
A moody and melancholic Drake, during quarantine, is the final piece to the jigsaw puzzle. There is no indication from the rapper’s camp on when he plans on releasing music through official channels.
This year, so far, we’ve gotten two leaks from OVO’s (October’s Very Own) SoundCloud account, a feature with Future on Life Is Good and Lil Yatchy on Oprah’s Bank Account, and a lyrical miracle two-pack offering on When To Say When & Chicago Freestyle.
Listen: New Drake leak surfaces online
We will have to wait and see what else Drake has in store for us but for now, we can be appreciative of a minute or so of nothing but Drake cooing about the woes of love affairs.
