Friends of the adult star first revealed the tragic news in a GoFundMe page set up to raise funds for her memorial and burial.
In the crowdfunding post, fitness gurus Megan Lee and Rachel revealed the 36-year-old took her own life at her home in Parma, Ohio.
“Her final class with us was February 7th, less than two weeks before Kagney tragically took her own life in her home,” Megan and Rachel wrote.
According to friends, Linn’s life, albeit busy and filled with love, laughter and achievements, had gradually deteriorated due to her mental health struggles.
“As alone as she undoubtedly felt within the confines of her own head, she continued to make an effort to show up for her friends and the community who cared about her. She fought her own battles with the same tenacity and drive she showed in every other area of her life, with as much strength as she could,” the post read.
Kagney Linn Karter is survived by her mother, Tina.

Kagney Linn Karter, born Kagney Linn Necessary on 28 March 1987, in Houston, Texas, is a name that resonates within the entertainment industry for her multifaceted career as an actress and model.
Raised in St. Joseph, Missouri, and later Ridgway, Pennsylvania, Karter ventured into the adult entertainment industry at the age of 21, in September 2008.
Her initial steps into the limelight were as an erotic dancer in Missouri, alongside early jobs as a hostess at a Mexican restaurant and Office Max.
Karter’s career took a significant turn when she moved to California, diving deeper into the realms of acting and modelling. Her talent and charisma soon caught the eye of LA Direct Models, a renowned modelling agency, leading to numerous photoshoots, notably with photographer Holly Randall.
Her entry into acting in September 2008 marked the beginning of an illustrious career that garnered fans worldwide.
Notably, Karter was honoured as the Penthouse Pet of the Month in June 2009, a testament to her impact and appeal within the industry. This accolade was among other recognitions, including features in Hustler magazine in April and on the cover of Holly Randall’s photo book, Erotic Dream Girls, published in October 2009.

Karter left the limelight of LA for a more quiet, suburban life in northeast Ohio, in November 2019, where she struck up a friendship with Megan and Rachel.
After months of progressing as a student at their studio, Karter moved to Akron and opened her own studio.
“This idea seed sprouted into reality when Alchemy Pole Fitness was born, the first pole studio in Akron and a safe space for so many students, friends, and loved ones. Another couple hats added: now she was a small business owner, an instructor, and an integral part of our Ohio pole community,” Megan and Rachel wrote.
