According to confirmed reports, Hadid was arrested and charged with possessing marijuana and drug paraphernalia upon her arrival in the country.
Arrival and Customs Inspection
Hadid, who arrived in the Cayman Islands via a private jet at Owen Roberts International Airport on Monday, 10 July 2023, went through the customary customs procedures alongside her luggage.
Agents from the Customs and Border Control (CBC) conducted a thorough inspection of her bags, utilising both scanning technology and manual searches.
Allegations of Marijuana Possession
During the inspection, CBC agents reportedly discovered a small quantity of marijuana and smoking paraphernalia among Gigi Hadid’s personal belongings.
Although the CBC determined that the marijuana was intended for personal use, both Gigi and her travelling companion were apprehended and subsequently charged with the importation of marijuana and illicit utensils for cannabis consumption.
Processing and Legal Proceedings
Following her arrest, Gigi Hadid was processed at the Royal Cayman Islands Detention Centre. She promptly arranged for bail, which allowed for her subsequent release pending the prosecution of her case.
It is worth noting that no conviction has been recorded on her criminal record.
Penalties and Fines
As a consequence of the legal proceedings, Gigi Hadid was fined $1 000.
