The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards airs Sunday, 14 March 2021 (Monday 15 here in SA) on CBS featuring a star-studded line-up of performances for an exemplary night of entertainment.
This follows after the award show was initially postponed due to COVID 19.
The line-up includes some of the most pronounced music acts in the industry such as Lil Baby with a nomination for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “The Bigger Picture”, Post Malone nominated for Album of the Year for Hollywood’s Bleeding and Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Circles”.
24-Grammy winner Beyonce leads in nominations with nine in total for song and record of the year “Black Parade” and while her collaboration on “Savage” with Megan Thee Stallion scored nominations for record of the year, best rap song and best rap performance. Megan, a first time nominee, is also queued to perform.
Representing for the African diaspora, the African Giant himself, Burna Boy is nominated for Best Global Music Album for Twice as Tall.
Jhené Aiko, Dua Lipa, Roddy Ricch, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish and her producer-brother Finneas also scored nominations.
What makes this year’s Grammys so special?
The ceremony will be honouring the independent music-venues that have been impacted by COVID-19. Day-to-day workers at the venues like Troubadour (Los Angeles), Hotel Café (Los Angeles), the Apollo Theater (New York City) and The Station Inn (Nash) will present awards in categories.
It will also be a safe coming together of artists celebrating the music that unites us as all.
