Sneaker Con, a globally recognised event celebrating sneaker culture, marked its 15th Anniversary in 2024 with a special appearance by Trump at the Philadelphia Convention Centre on Saturday, 17 February 2024.
The visit came a day after Trump faced a $350 million fine in a New York City civil fraud case brought against him, his family, and the Trump Organisation by Attorney General Letitia James.
Seemingly unbothered, Trump took the stage to promote his line of gold high-top sneakers adorned with American flag logos, available for pre-order at $399 a pair on his website.
Trump expressed his long-standing desire to launch a sneaker line, stating:
“It’s a slightly different audience than I’m used to, but I love this audience.”
Chase Young, founder of Culture Kicks, highlighted the significant impact young people have in the sneaker industry and described Trump’s entry into this market as having a “deep impact”.
The event also saw a pair of Trump’s sneakers bearing his autograph — one of 10 in existence — auctioned off for $9,000 (est. R170 898.84)
