Rihanna has made it very clear at the Fenty Social Club that the last thing on her to-do list is compiling her much-anticipated album.
Watch: Highlights of Fenty Social Club hosted by Rihanna
The Wild Thoughts Barbadian took to her Instagram Live on Friday evening to host her online party which featured a live performance from Octavian and DJ sets from Kitty Cash, Pedro, Stretch and Armstrong.
We will upload the full footage of the party when it becomes available but we have collected a few lengthy snippets of everything that went down at Fenty Social Club.
Are we getting an album from Riri anytime soon?
Hundreds of thousands of Fenty fans from all across the globe were quick to tune into the live feed to party with Rihanna in quarantine.
The one thing everyone was waiting for was a hint of unreleased music from her upcoming album, R9. The singer has been teasing the project for years.
The most recent confirmed information from Rihanna about R9 was that the project will follow reggae themes. However, the star has been careful to not provide ETAs on the album.
As she had expected, fans flooded her comments with probes about the album.
After years of deflecting, Rihanna finally put all the uncertainty to bed. The Bitch Better Have My Money singer told fans that she is too preoccupied with doing her part in the fight against coronavirus (COVID-19). The album, it seems, is the last thing on her mind.
“If one of y’all motherf*ckers ask me about the album one more time when I’m tryna save the world unlike y’all president… on sight!” she warned.
Rihanna leads the front in COVID-19 fight
As reported by GQ, COVID-19 has affected the singer personally. Her father Ronald Fenty contracted the virus and was kept at the Paragon Isolation facility, in Barbados.
His daughter sent him a ventilator which played a crucial role in his recovery.
“My daughter Robyn was checking in on me every day. I thought I was going to die to be honest. I have to say, I love you so much, Robyn. She did so much for me. I appreciate everything she has done,” he said.
This gesture is separate from these donations she has made towards fighting COVID-19:
- $2 million from Rihanna and Jay-Z towards the MusiCares’ COVID-19 Relief Fund, which provides aid to the people in the music industry;
- an undisclosed supply of personal protective equipment (PPE) to the state of New York;
- $1.67 million towards Los Angeles’ Domestic Violence Relief Fund; and
- her foundation donated $5 million to various organizations assisting with coronavirus relief efforts
