Here’s how the BET voting process works
This year’s event, known as Culture’s Biggest Night, holds special significance as it will celebrate 50 years of Hip-Hop throughout the telecast, paying homage to the genre’s immense influence.
The BET Voting Academy carefully selected the nominees for the 2023 BET Awards.
Comprising a distinguished group of entertainment professionals, influencers, and experts in various fields such as music, media, digital marketing, sports journalism, public relations, and creative arts, the academy ensures a fair and comprehensive evaluation of the nominees.
Leading the nominations with his remarkable talent and achievements, Drake secures seven coveted spots across different categories.
His nominations include ‘Best Male Hip Hop Artist,’ ‘Best Male R&B/Pop Artist,’ ‘Best Group‘ alongside 21 Savage, ‘Best Collaboration‘ for his work with Future and Tems on “Wait for U,” ‘Album of the Year‘ for his collaboration with 21 Savage on “Her Loss,” and ‘Viewer’s Choice Award‘ for his feature on “Wait For You” with Future and Tems.
Another rising star making waves in the industry is GloRilla, previously recognised as a BET Amplified Artist.
GloRilla stands tall with an impressive six nominations, including ‘Best Female Hip Hop Artist,’ ‘Best New Artist,’ ‘Album of the Year‘ for “Anyways, Life’s Great,” ‘Video Of The Year‘ for her collaboration with Cardi B on “Tomorrow 2,” and ‘Best Collaboration‘ for her features with HItkidd on “F.N.F. Let’s Go” and Cardi B on “Tomorrow 2.”
Other notable artists who have garnered significant nominations include 21 Savage and Lizzo, who both received five nominations each.
Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice, and SZA trail closely behind with four nominations apiece. Cardi B, Coco Jones, FLO, Future, Jack Harlow, Kendrick Lamar, Maverick City Music & Kirk Franklin, and Tems have all secured three nominations each.
