Kenilworth Centre robbery: Here’s what we know so far
Early on Monday morning, at approximately 08:28, a spine-chilling scene unfolded at the entrance of Kenilworth Centre on Doncaster Road.
In a statement to Swisher Post, Cape Town police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed that a 47-year-old man, while approaching the mall entrance with his employer, noticed two unidentified males advancing towards them.
One of the suspects, brandishing a firearm, confronted his employer and demanded the bag he was carrying. The bag contained an undisclosed sum of money intended for bank deposit.
Reacting swiftly, the suspect seized the bag and, along with his accomplice, fled the scene.
The entire ordeal occurred rapidly, with no shots fired.
Descriptions of the suspects remain vague; both were wearing caps and face masks, making identification challenging.
Following the robbery, the suspects escaped in a getaway vehicle, the details of which have yet to be disclosed by the authorities.
In response to this incident, the Claremont Police have issued a call for witnesses.
“Anyone with any information about this incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111,” police called.
