Chaos erupted on a seemingly ordinary Friday in Springfield Park, Durban, when a white BMW X5 became the unlikely stage for a dramatic drive-by shooting.
Springfield Park drive-by shooting leaves two injured: Here’s what we know
The incident left two women seriously wounded.
It all unfolded on Inanda Road around 10:36. A passerby, likely expecting just another day, found themselves dialling Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) to report a scene straight out of a crime thriller.
The response was swift, with Reaction officers arriving to find a bevvy of ambulances already swarming the area.
The plot, as they say, thickened. The villains of this real-life action sequence? Occupants of a mysterious white bakkie decided to open fire on the BMW X5.
What ensued was a hailstorm of bullets, approximately 30 spent 9mm cartridges, turning the street into a scene reminiscent of a high-octane blockbuster.
In the BMW, two women bore the brunt of this unexpected onslaught. They were seriously injured, their morning taking a turn for the worse in a matter of seconds.
First responders and medics worked tirelessly, stabilising the women before whisking them away to the hospital.
Details about the motive were still amiss when this article was published. The suspects are presumably still at large.
This is a developing story.
