Gauteng police are actively investigating an armed robbery incident at the Hercules ABSA bank in Tshwane.
The robbery occurred on the morning of Wednesday, 23 November 2023, when two unidentified men approached a businessman inside the bank and robbed him at gunpoint.
The victim, who was in the bank to deposit money, was threatened and then escorted outside by the robbers.
Early indications suggest the businessman’s movements may have been stalked by the suspects for a while before he was trailed to the bank.
The assailants fled the scene in a silver-grey Volkswagen Polo vehicle. It’s unclear at this time if authorities have the vehicle’s registration numbers.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident, and the Hercules ABSA bank has resumed normal operations, albeit with heightened security.
Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, the Gauteng provincial police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and revealed the investigation as a top priority for Tshwane police.
