KZN woman accused of killing her boyfriend
34-year-old Hlalanathi Mbuyisa’s body was found bleeding out on the side of the N2 highway in Godlwayo, a settlement situated in Pongolo, in the wee hours of Saturday morning.
According to KZN police spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele, authorities were called out to the scene at approximately 03:30.
“On arrival at the scene, they found the body of Hlalanathi Mbuyisa with a stab wound to the left-hand side of his chest,” Col. Mbele said in a statement.
Police responders interviewed eyewitnesses who had gathered near the crime scene and were informed that Mbuyisa was seen arguing with his girlfriend shortly before he was killed.
The 33-year-old woman whose identity has not yet been revealed was tracked down, arrested and charged with the murder of her boyfriend.
Her brother, a year younger than she, was also arrested after it was discovered that he may have been an active participant in the murder.
“It was established that the deceased was severely assaulted by his 33-year-old girlfriend with the assistance of his 32-year-old brother who stabbed the victim once on the chest,” Col. Mbuyisa added.
The girlfriend and her brother are due to appear at the Pongola Magistrates’ Court on murder charges.
