On Wednesday morning, a violent cash-in-transit robbery took place on Malendela Road in KwaMashu, Durban, which resulted in three individuals being hospitalised.

The incident occurred just after 06:00, as reported by Kyle van Reenen, the spokesperson for Emer-G-Med.
Upon arrival at the scene, responders found the armoured vehicle engulfed in flames following an explosion.
Three individuals were treated for moderate injuries and were transported to nearby hospitals for further medical attention.

The South African Police Services (SAPS) were present at the scene and are conducting the necessary investigations to unravel the circumstances surrounding the heist.
Before the police could cordon off the scene, video footage captured KwaMashu residents scavenging for leftover money scattered due to the explosion.
The footage has since stirred reactions from the public regarding the audacious heist and the aftermath scene of residents scrambling for leftover cash.
In a separate incident on the same day, another money truck was targeted by an unidentified group of robbers.

Early reports from the active crime scene suggest that the robbers were unsuccessful in their attempt to loot the vehicle.
