Heinz Park Primary School in Cape Town has been cordoned off as an active crime scene after a teacher was gunned down on Tuesday morning.
What happened at Heinz Park Primary School?
It’s believed that the victim, a teacher only known at this stage as Mr Manqoyi, was targeted by at least two suspects as he pulled into the parking lot of the primary school at approximately 07:45.
According to eyewitnesses, the renowned teacher was seated in his vehicle when two suspects walked up to his window and fired off an undisclosed number of gunshots.
“The circumstances surrounding the death of a 52-year-old man are being investigated after he was shot and killed in the parking area of Heinz Park primary school while sitting in his vehicle this morning at around 7.45am. Two unknown suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested,” police spokesperson Colonel Andre Traut confirmed in a statement.
Has a suspect been linked to the murder?
At this time, not much information is available on the murder investigation, since at the time this article was published, police were on the scene collecting evidence and taking down statements.
Eyewitnesses who’ve asked to remain anonymous informed reporters that the culprits behind this assassination are known to the school.
It’s unclear, at this stage, If the wanted suspects are pupils from Heinz Park Primary School. The school was not available to respond to our questions.
