Camps Bay, Cape Town’s most affluent neighbourhood, hosted a gory crime scene on Wednesday afternoon.
Cape Town double murder: Details we know so far
Regular beachgoers and residents of the Atlantic Seaboard community were awestruck by the sight of two dead bodies found metres apart on the sprawling lawns of Victoria Road.
In a statement quoted by News24, police spokesperson Warrant Officer Joseph Swartbooi confirmed authorities were called to the scene at approximately 15:40.
The first body was found on the concrete floor of an outbuilding with its torso riddled with bullets.
Nearby, a second dead body was found with similar injuries.
Details around the respective fates of the victims are still sketchy, as police were, at the time this article was published, still making sense of the evidence collected.
In a statement released on Facebook, Camps Bay ward councillor Nicola Jowell revealed the incident occurred “on the beach/Promenade area in front of the shopping centre.”
“The suspects appear to have been there to target the people who are now deceased. May they rest in peace. They then made off speeding in a vehicle out of the area,” Jowell wrote.
The circumstances surrounding the double murder remain unknown, and police have yet to issue an update on the evidence they have thus far.
This is a developing story.
