In a statement, Mpumalanga police revealed that at approximately 19:00 on a fateful evening, the 49-year-old man was returning home when he was attacked and shot multiple times at his doorstep.
According to available police information, the victim had just disembarked from an NP200 Nissan bakkie, believed to belong to an unknown person.
As he reached the gate of his property, he was reportedly ambushed and shot before he could even enter his house.
The attack left the victim with severe injuries, including multiple gunshot wounds on his legs and an open wound on his head.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals who arrived at the scene, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on-site.
