Bokgabo Poo murder case postponed: Here’s the latest
Zikhali made his second court appearance on Monday, where he was expected to present a new legal representative following private prosecutor Clifford Gilpin’s decision to withdraw from the case. last week.
As reported by Jacaranda News, the alleged child murderer secured a defence attorney who informed the court he was not, as yet, ready to submit a formal bail application.
This, Zikhali’s lawyer explained, was to allow due process in the state’s ongoing bid to overturn the bail application Poo’s murder suspect was granted in a case where he’s accused of raping a nine-year-old.
The Benoni Magistrate’s Court noted submissions from both benches and adjourned the matter until Monday, 14 November 2022. Zikhali, in the interim, will remain in police custody until then.
Bokgabo’s father reacts to courtroom outburst
Irvin Ndlovu lost his cool once again and disrupted court proceedings on Monday. Bokgabo’s father, who went viral for lunging at Zikhali last week, stood up before proceedings commenced in court and begged the accused murderer to disclose where he hid the rest of his four-year-old daughter’s body.
The emotional scenes did not deter Zikhali, who sat quietly on the dock without a faint hint of remorse in his glare, staring blankly into the abyss.
Speaking to the media outside the court, Ndlovu revealed that two weeks since Poo’s severed torso and leg were discovered on a property in Tamboville, a short distance away from where the toddler was last seen on CCTV walking off with Zikhali in hand, on Monday, 10 October 2022, the rest of her body parts are still missing.
In a shocking revelation, Ndlovu added that Wattville police have not kept him abreast with search efforts.
“I’ve actually seen the police officer only yesterday (Sunday, 23 October 2022) morning. I haven’t been in contact with them. I don’t know from the other side of the family but I’ve only seen them yesterday, and they were also updating me about the details getting here to court. There’s not really much that I’m getting from the police who are in charge,” he told eNCA reporters.
At this juncture, Zikhali remains uncooperative, and consequently, Poo’s family are unable to lay their daughter to rest.
