EFF march road closures to take note of on Monday, 2 October 2023
The closure of the N2 highway comes at a time when motorists are already facing traffic challenges in Cape Town.
On Monday, planned road closures were in place due to a march organised by the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). The EFF obtained permission for a gathering expected to involve approximately 1,000 participants.
The march was slated to commence at 09:00 but delays pushed it back to the early afternoon.
The march will follow a designated route from Heideveld Road to the Ndabeni pound, as outlined by the Pinelands Community Policing Forum (CPF).
To facilitate this event, rolling road closures will be enforced, impacting several key roads, including the left lane along Jakes Gerwel northbound, Viking Way, Jan Smuts Way, Sunrise Circle, Berkley Road, and Alexandra Road.
Specifically, Berkley Road will be closed between Cannon Road and Sunrise Circle, while Alexandra Road will be inaccessible between Oude Molen Road and Ndabeni Road. Motorists who require access to the Vincent Palotti Hospital are advised to utilize Raapenberg Road.
Given the expected disruptions caused by the road closures associated with the EFF march, alternative routes are strongly recommended for those seeking to minimize travel interruptions.
