The City of Cape Town has announced its decision to posthumously award Brenda Fassie, the legendary South African singer, with Civic Honours.
What are Civic Honours?
Civic Honours, as defined by the City of Cape Town, are prestigious recognitions awarded to individuals, organisations, or military units that have made extraordinary contributions or acts of service to the city and its citizens.
These honours celebrate those who have upheld the rights of others, served their communities selflessly, and made significant contributions to nation-building through their service and achievements.
As per the City’s policy, these honours can be bestowed posthumously or to living recipients.
