Following a long-drawn-out hiatus, Zahara has resurfaced with exciting news for her mammoth fanbase – she has new music coming in a matter of weeks!
Where was Zahara this whole time?
The last time we were blessed with a body of work from the Afro-soul songstress was in 2017, when she released her fourth studio album Country Girl (her first under Warner Music South Africa’s stewardship).
That album went gold in a span of four hours. If a statement was to be made about Zahara’s position in the hierarchy of music greats, Country Girl solidified her spot at the summit.
Much of her time since that album was spent touring different stages, scooping up awards and bonding with close friends and family.
New single ‘Nyamazela’ is dropping in May 2021
After all these years, Zahara has returned to the fold with a rollout for her fifth offering. First out of the gate, Warner confirmed, is a single release titled Nyamezela, a song the songstress hopes will shine “a ray of hope during these trying times.”
“I think it’s what we all need right now… I hope you like It,” Zahara said.
Nyamezela is schedule to drop on every digital streaming platform on Friday 7 May 2021. At this time, it is not confirmed if the song will be accompanied by a music video.
Everything we know about Zahara’s upcoming album
Zahara and her team have kept been cautious about revealing too much information on the upcoming album. Right now, the project is complete but sits without a title.
We were not informed of the total track count of the project or who she will have as a guest. All we know, at this stage is, long-time producer Mojalefa ‘Mjakes’ Thebe played a crucial role in the album’s production and composition.
A&R for Urban music at Warner SA, Vusi Leeuw, teased us further with claims that Zahara “is ready to inspire and uplift us once more.”
“Like her fans around the world, we are excited to be part of this next chapter in Zahara’s extraordinary musical journey,” Leeuw said.
No official date has been confirmed by Zahara’s handlers but we were informed, with a great deal of confidence, that the songstress’ fifth project is slated for June 2021.
