On Thursday, YouTube, the video streaming platform, announced that it has partnered with broadcasters around the world, including NBC, CBC, Eurosport/Discovery+, France TV, Marca Claro, and more — to bring viewers over 5,000 hours worth of content, covering Olympics 2021.
Olympics 2021: YouTube brings Tokyo to your screens
The Olympics kick off on Friday 23 July 2021. The YouTube team said that the official Olympics channel on YouTube will have a comprehensive line-up of content, including highlights available to fans in India, Russia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Spanish-speaking Latin America.
Broadcast coverage across Europe on the Eurosport channel will play host to over 2,000 clips, highlights, daily recaps, and athlete spotlights, as well as live coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. This excludes UK, France, Russia, Denmark, Italy, Czech Republic, Spain, Netherlands.
You will even see content directly from athletes themselves, including MyKayla Skinner, Jordyn Huitema, Matisse Thybulle, and Tom Daley, who are creating content for their YouTube channels, the YouTube team announced.

Over the past month, YouTube has been releasing Olympics-themed content, including “Strive” – a six-part docuseries about the astounding men and women who were forced to flee their countries as refugees, while training for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete in Tokyo 2020.
Another documentary, “World Debut”, recounts the journey to the first Olympic Games for Skateboarding, Surfing, and Sport Climbing. The documentary explores the violent histories of each sport, the difficult road they took to becoming an Olympic event, and what this means for each sport’s future.
Other videos included easily digestible episodes that will prepare anyone to be an expert in some of the most unique and peculiar sports featured in the Olympic Games.
On Thursday, an episode where a group of kids was being mentored by one of the Guinness World Records TM title holders in preparation for their biggest challenge to date — attempting their own record was premiered.
