Cassper Nyovest is only days away from releasing BongiNkosi the second single from his upcoming studio album AMN, which is a reference to his son’s estimated birth date that could literally be ‘Any Minute Now’.
The rapper has been very vocal in the making of the album, letting fans in on the guest appearances we should expect and more importantly, the themes he will explore.
Nyovest is in the depths of a rite of passage at the moment. He is preparing for the arrival of his first child with his romantic partner Thobeka Majozi.
Life is about to change for the 29-year-old, as for the first time ever, he will be paternally responsible for another human being.
‘BongiNkosi’ – Cassper Nyovest rallies fans to thank God
That is a big deal and Nyovest understands this clearly. He is also savvy enough to play on the emotional strings of parenthood and thus, he rightfully used this opportunity to rally up a conversation around ‘BongiNkosi’, the title of the single he features the legendary Zola 7 whose real name, coincidentally, is Bonginkosi Dlamini.
The Amademoni rapper took to social media to admit that in these trying times, he has latched onto the impending arrival of his son as the silver lining.
To commemorate the release of the Zola-featured single, Nyovest challenged his fans to open up about the struggles they’ve encountered in these uncertain times and the one thing they thank God for.
For Nyovest, it’s his family and the fact that he is about to welcome his first child into this world. Here are some of the stories we picked out from the ‘BongiNkosi’ hashtag.
The single itself is scheduled to drop on Friday 21 August 2020. We suspect that it will be accompanied by a tear-jerking music video but this has not, at this time, been confirmed.
