A 3D model depicting actor Vin Diesel as ‘Adam’, the name given to the first human, has gone viral on social media.
Reactions to viral Vin Diesel 3D model
The viral picture, posted by Alamo Drafthouse, a cinema based in New York, that’s famous for serving food and drinks inside movie theatres, shows a 3D mockup of a man with features that resemble the Fast & Furious main honcho.
The post claims that the 3D model was an image reconstructed by scientists at Princeton University, which showed how Adam, God’s first creation, may have looked.
Of course, what many tweeps may have ignored was the subsequent disclaimer Alamo Drafthouse posted beneath the viral tweet, stating that they were a movie theatre, “not an academic journal.”
This misuse of institutional credibility for viral moments is not new. In 2018, Lady Gaga was thrust into a meme storm when users created a 3D model of the singer’s face, claiming Harvard University researchers likened her features to Egyptian Goddess Cleopatra.
On social media, however, facts do not hold currency. The very thought of Vin Diesel resembling Adam was enough inspiration for users to escape into the wilderness with memeworthy tweets.
