The murder of Shanquella Robinson, a 25-year-old woman from Charlotte, North Carolina, has been the subject of outrage on social media. Here’s everything we know about the suspects.
What happened to Shanquella Robinson?
Robinson was laid to rest on the weekend of Saturday, 12 November 2022, more than 10 days after her lifeless body was discovered at a villa in Cabo, Mexico.
According to reports, Robinson was part of a group of friends who, on Friday, 28 October 2022, flew to the Mexican resort city for what was supposed to be a weekend of birthday celebrations.
Her mother, Salamondra Robinson, last spoke to her daughter on that Friday. Shanquella had just settled into Cabo after an eight-hour flight and over the phone, she’d informed her mother that the travelling group had just had a meal and everyone was getting ready for the weekend’s festivities.
Unbeknown to Salamondra, this was the last time she’d heard her daughter’s voice. Shanquella’s mother had expected a call from the 25-year-old the next day but was utterly dismayed when she was contacted by one of the travelling friends informing her that her daughter wasn’t feeling well and apparently “had alcohol poisoning.”
According to Shanquella’s mother, each friend gave a different account of what had allegedly happened to her daughter.
“No one told the same story, so I never believed them anyway,” the mother said.
A common theme that surfaced in the friends’ varying accounts was that Robinson had bizarrely lost her pulse on Saturday afternoon, supposedly after ingesting poisonous food or drinks.
This claim, however, was not backed up by the forensic evidence collected by Mexican authorities.
In a statement released by the villa, a representative of the vacation property revealed that the first person to assess Shanquella’s lifeless body was an unidentified concierge who, after failing to detect a pulse, had contacted a nurse.
Efforts were made to resuscitate the Charlotte hairdresser but, unfortunately, she was declared dead at 15:00 on Saturday, 29 October 2022.
An autopsy report released days later blew the murder investigation wide open when a coroner confirmed that a toxicology examination showed that alcohol was not the primary cause of her death.
In fact, Robinson had sustained bruises all over her body and suffered a broken neck, which was ruled as the injury that killed her.
Soon thereafter, disturbing video footage caught on camera by one of Shanquella’s friends showed what had transpired shortly before her dead body was discovered.
A naked Robinson was repeatedly clobbered by a woman identified as one of her travel mates while the male recording the footage casually asked, “Quella’ can you at least fight back?”
The Charlotte hairdresser vehemently refused to defend herself and this is the last known footage of her alive before the grisly discovery made by the villa’s staff at 15:00 that fateful Saturday.

Here are the suspects in her murder
While the investigation into the murder of Shanquella Robinson continues, murmurs on social media have been abuzz with speculation about the 25-year-old’s travelling mates.
According to reports, Robinson allegedly travelled to Cabo, Mexico, with six friends:
- Khalil Cooke;
- Malik Dyer;
- Wenter Donovan;
- Alysse Hyatt;
- Daejhanae Jackson; and
- Nazeer Wiggins.
It’s already been established by Robinson’s mother that each of Shanquella’s travel mates has been, at the very least, evasive about the events that led to her death.
A coroner’s report threw out the possibility of alcohol poisoning being the leading cause of death and, to make matters worse, the viral video clip showing the Charlotte hairdresser being pummelled by one of her friends matched the deadly injuries found on her body during the autopsy.
From what we understand, Daejhanae Jackson has been fingered as the aggressor seen clobbering Robinson in the viral video. Murmurs on social media claim that not only is she not cooperating with authorities, but she has also fled North Carolina in the midst of the online backlash surrounding her alleged culpability in the murder.
Nazeer Wiggins, on the other hand, has since posted a viral video clip vehemently denying any involvement in Robinson’s death. According to the hairdresser’s supposed friend, he only arrived in Cabo on that fateful Saturday, at approximately 15:30, about 30 minutes after a medical professional had declared Robinson dead.
The rest of the crew has yet to issue public statements on the death of Robinson and as it stands, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder.
