Arsenal has confirmed that Hector Bellerin has left the club after 11 years to join Barcelona.
Hector Bellerin joins Barcelona: Here’s what we know
According to Soccer Laduma, the Spanish player has returned to his former club for free on a one-year deal, reportedly waiving any payments owed by the Gunners.
The Gunners have resorted to retaining 25% of Barcelona’s future sales sanctions for the player.
Hector joined the club just over a decade after he left the club’s famed La Masia academy to ply his trade with the 13-time English champions.
This will be Bellerin’s second consecutive season playing in LaLiga, having played under Manuel Pellegrini on loan at Real Betis during the 2021/22 campaign.
Now, the 27-year-old will take to the pitch for the team that provided him with his footballing education.
Bellerin will reportedly take a wage cut to play under Xavi Hernandez and forego any wages that Arsenal owes him to sign a one-year deal with the five-time UEFA Champions League winners.
Barcelona has been playing without a right-back this season, with Ronaldo Araujo fulfilling those duties when Xavi decides to play with a back four.
Following the departures of Dani Alves and Sergino Dest, the Blaugrana were in the market for an out-and-out right-sided fullback. However, it seems that the club has found their man in Bellerin.
For three FA Cups and 239 appearances.
