On Monday Snapchat unveiled the new 3D Bitmoji in profiles, in which users will be able to express themselves in more than 1200 body poses, gestures, facial expressions, and backgrounds to choose from.
Snapchat introduces 3D Bitmoji in Profiles
Users will now see 3D Bitmoji in Snap Profiles and Friendship Profiles. From there, you will have the option to share your customised avatar with friends, on and out of the platform, if you wish.
“From peace signs and prayer hands, to scenic beaches and trendy animal print backgrounds – Snapchatters can now match their 3D Bitmoji to their every mood,” the Snapchat Team said.
“The 3D avatars in profiles are meant to make Snapchat profiles more expressive, fun and personal,” David Whyte, Snap’s 3D Bitmoji product designer said in an interview with media.
I updated the app on my phone and it looks pretty cool. This is what my avatar looks like:
What Snapchat has been doing with the feature
Bitmoji was available for the first time on Snapchat in 2016. The avatars make Snapchat even way more fun than it already is by making your own avatar that your friends on the app can identify you with. You can customise your avatar whichever way you like. From dressing it up, choosing a type of hair, and even your skin tone.
To give you even more variety in clothing, Snapchat collaborated with Jordan Brand in September 2020, letting its users dress up their Bitmoji with the most iconic sportswear by the brand. Snapchat also teamed up with iconic brands like Ralph Lauren and Levi’s the past year.
Early last year, the famous filter app introduced Bitmoji Deluxe. This update included additional skin tones, hairstyles, hair colours, facial features, and accessories. This also included a very quick and convenient way to snap a selfie to inspire your Bitmoji.
