If there was an inkling that Multichoice was deaf to the cries of customers about the poor balance between exorbitant fees and the quality of its content delivery, then this was all but confirmed on Monday, when CEO Marc Jury confirmed major increases to DStv prices in 2024.
2024 DStv prices set for an increase: Here’s everything you must know
The pay-TV provider kicked off the new week with an announcement of a price hike set for several of its packages, starting 1 April 2024.
Out of six package offerings, only one will remain with an unchanged monthly subscription fee – DStv EasyView, Multichoice’s entry-level tier with 30+ local and international channels, mostly telenovela, and 95 audio streams.
DStv Access, the second-lowest tier, with 66+ channels and limited sports viewings, will undergo the highest price adjustment in percentage (7.8%), rising from R129 to R139 per month.

The higher fee, however, is expected to come with increased offerings, particularly in international sports, Jury told reporters.
“We have renewed La Liga, and we are in the process of finalising a long-term extension with them,” he teased.
For R10 more per month, Access subscribers will be introduced to ESPN, La Liga, SuperSport Variety 4, and SuperSport Blitz.
The pay-TV provider’s most popular packages, Premium, Compact Plus and Compact, will also see varying increases.
However, Multichoice’s biggest bet is locking customers in a price-guarantee contract, where they can enjoy access to packages at 2023 prices for two years.
The catch, though, is customers cannot downgrade without forking out for the exorbitant fees attached to the price guarantee.

Besides the DStv Access free, which is set to increase from R115 to R120, the add-ons prices, ADD Movies and Box Office, will remain unchanged in 2024.
