The Huawei P50 series, also known as the most anticipated Huawei flagship is finally here. This latest Huawei phone series was unveiled later in July, in China. This article will tell you about everything you need to know about the first two phones of the new series: the P50 and the P50 Pro.
Huawei unveils P50 series
The Huawei P50 series comes a year later after the P40 series came out. According to reports, Huawei’s consumer business CEO Richard Yu first teased the phones in June 2021. At the time, Yu didn’t mention when the phones would be released. This is because Huawei faces sanctions in the US. This means that it cannot use its ability to buy chips and other components from companies using US technology.
The Huawei P50 series is, however, here, despite it all. The P50 series won’t include Google’s apps and services if it ever releases outside of China. In fact, the P50 doesn’t run Android at all because it has its own HarmonyOS software.
“5G phones are beyond our reach, and we have to go with 4G by removing the 5G module from our chip design,” Yu said during a launch event last month.

The P50 has 8 GB RAM + 128/256 GB ROM memory. The available internal storage, however, may be smaller as part of the internal storage is occupied by software. It may vary in depending on the market. Huawei says that internal storage is subject to the actual product.
The phone has three visible lenses: 50 MP True-Chroma Camera (Color, f/1.8 aperture), 13 MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera (f/2.2 aperture), 12 MP Telephoto Camera (f/3.4 aperture, OIS), which supports autofocus (AF)
The phone has digital zoom, optical zoom, and hybrid zoom. This means that you can capture images in stunning clarity, from near or far, wide or close-in. And it supports up to 8192 x 6144 pixels.
Huawei says that the is rated as IP68 for splash, water, and dust resistance under IEC standard 60529 and was tested under controlled laboratory conditions. However, water resistance decreases over time.
Its 5 nm flagship chipset brings top notch performance in data processing, multi-tasking and response time, while the 3D Graphene Liquid Cooling System ensures fast and stable heat dissipation.
Unlike the P50, P50 Pro has even better camera quality. It has 50 MP True-Chroma Camera (Color, f/1.8 aperture, OIS), 40 MP True-Chroma Camera (MONO, f/1.6 aperture), 13 MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera (f/2.2 aperture). And it has an extra lense — 64 MP Telephoto Camera (f/3.5 aperture, OIS), support AF.
