The selection, made from nearly 100 candidates, was based on novelty, applicability, depth, and power.
This year’s report, for the first time, includes a qualitative analysis of each technology’s impact on people, the planet, prosperity, industry, and equity.
This broader scope, incorporating insights from over 90 experts across 20 countries, provides a comprehensive perspective on how these technologies might reshape various aspects of society.

- Wearable Plant Sensors: Agricultural technology for enhanced crop monitoring and management.
- Spatial Omics: Biomedical research tools providing comprehensive cellular function data.
- Flexible Neural Electronics: Innovations in neuroscience for studying and interacting with the brain.
- Sustainable Computing: Eco-friendly approaches in technology development and usage.

The report highlighted the urgent need for policies that connect science, technology, and entrepreneurship to protect those impacted by technology upheavals.
